About me

My novel Leila and Khaled will appear in August 2026 in Canada and the U.S. and I'm now at work on a third collection of poetry. In 2025, I undertook an artist's residency at La Napoule Art Foundation, Mandelieu-La-Napoule, France. In January and February, 2026, I was a writer in residence at Passa Porta House of International Literature, Brussels, under the auspices of the Échanges d'écrivains et de bédéistes entre le Québec et la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles - Littérature,  Belgium.

I'm the author of two critically acclaimed books of poetry: Sumptuary Laws (2012), shortlisted for the Gerald Lampert Award, and Stranger (2016). I'm also the editor of an anthology of poems, Resisting Canada (2019). My poems have appeared in magazines in Canada, the U.S., Ireland, and the U.K. including The Walrus, The Literary Review of Canada, Mizna, The New Yorker, POETRY, The Poetry Review,  PN Review, Poetry Ireland Review, Best Canadian Poetry, New Poetries VI, and elsewhere.

I'm grateful for the generous support I have received recently from La Napoule Art Foundation, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Canada Council for the Arts, and Passa Porta House of International Literature, Brussels.
